Bill Summary

This bill, known as the "Florida Shores Protection and Fairness Act", seeks to include the state of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf Revenue Sharing Program. This program allows states to receive a portion of the revenue generated from oil and gas production in federal waters off their coastline. The bill also extends the moratorium on oil and gas leasing in certain areas of the Gulf of Mexico until June 30, 2027. This means that no new leases for oil and gas production will be granted in these areas until that date. The purpose of this bill is to protect the shores of Florida and ensure fairness in the distribution of revenue from offshore drilling.

Possible Impacts

1. The "Florida Shores Protection and Fairness Act" could affect people living in Florida by potentially limiting or restricting oil and gas leasing in certain areas of the Gulf of Mexico, which could impact job opportunities and economic growth in those areas.
2. The extension of the moratorium on oil and gas leasing in the Gulf of Mexico could affect people in the oil and gas industry, as well as those who rely on the production and transportation of these resources for their livelihoods.
3. The inclusion of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico outer Continental Shelf revenue sharing program could have positive effects on the state's economy and revenue, potentially leading to increased funding for public services and infrastructure.
