Bill Summary

This legislation, titled "Livestock Mandatory Reporting Extension", seeks to extend the authorization for mandatory reporting of livestock, which is currently set to expire on September 30, 2020. The bill, if passed, would amend the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 and the Livestock Mandatory Reporting Act of 1999 to change the expiration date to December 31, 2021. This would allow for continued monitoring and reporting of livestock market information, which is important for ensuring transparency and fairness in the industry.

Possible Impacts

1. Livestock farmers may be affected by this legislation as it extends the mandatory reporting requirements for their industry. This could mean increased paperwork and compliance measures for farmers, potentially impacting their daily operations and costs.

2. Consumers may be affected by this legislation as it could potentially impact the availability and pricing of livestock products. The extended reporting requirements could lead to increased transparency in the market and potentially affect prices for consumers.

3. The employees of the government agencies responsible for enforcing and overseeing this legislation may be affected as they may need to adjust their procedures and resources to accommodate the extended reporting deadline. This could potentially impact their workload and job responsibilities.
