Bill Summary
This bill aims to modify the authorized uses of a certain property in Los Angeles, California which was previously conveyed by the United States. Section 1 of the bill specifies the modification of authorized uses, which includes using the property to meet the needs of the homeless population. The bill directs the State of California to submit an application for this use, which will then be reviewed by the Administrator of General Services and the Secretary of Health and Human Services. If they determine that the property can be used to meet the needs of the homeless, the Administrator will execute a modification of the deed of conveyance to authorize this new use and include any necessary terms and conditions to protect the interests of the United States. Overall, this bill aims to repurpose government property to address the issue of homelessness in Los Angeles.
Possible Impacts
1. Homeless individuals in Los Angeles may have access to a new property that can be used to meet their needs, potentially providing them with shelter and resources.
2. The State of California may have to submit an application and go through a review process before being granted use of the property for the homeless, which could delay the availability of the property for use.
3. The United States may have certain terms and conditions in place to protect their interests in the property, which may limit the ways in which the property can be used for homeless individuals.
