Bill Summary

The Energy Emergency Leadership Act, also known as the "Energy Emergency Leadership Act", amends the Department of Energy Organization Act to assign additional responsibilities to Assistant Secretaries within the Department of Energy. These responsibilities include addressing energy emergencies and security threats, such as infrastructure, cybersecurity, and supply issues. The Act also requires coordination with other federal agencies in the performance of these duties. It was passed by the House of Representatives in September 2020.

Possible Impacts

1. The "Energy Emergency Leadership Act" could potentially affect people by providing them with access to technical assistance, support, and response capabilities in the event of an energy security threat or incident. This could help protect individuals and communities in times of crisis.

2. The Act may also affect people by increasing the coordination and collaboration between different levels of government and federal agencies in addressing energy emergencies and security risks. This could lead to more effective and comprehensive responses to such situations.

3. The legislation could also potentially impact people by assigning new responsibilities to Assistant Secretaries within the Department of Energy, such as the management of infrastructure, cybersecurity, and emergency planning for energy-related matters. This could potentially lead to more efficient and effective management of energy resources and infrastructure, which could ultimately benefit individuals and communities.
