    Eating Disorder Prevention in Schools Act of 2020 This bill requires local educational agencies (LEAs) participating in the school lunch or breakfast programs to include goals for reducing disordered eating in children of all sizes in their local school wellness policies. Such LEAs must also include registered dietitians and licensed mental health professionals in the development, implementation, and periodic review of such policies. The bill also requires the Department of Agriculture to provide information and technical assistance to LEAs, school food authorities, school health professionals, and state educational agencies for use in establishing healthy school environments. Such technical assistance must promote eating disorder prevention and encourage screening for such disorders.

    Functional Gastrointestinal and Motility Disorders Research Enhancement Act of2019 This bill allows the National Institutes of Health to expand, intensify, and coordinate its activities with respect to functional gastrointestinal and motility disorders (FGIMDs), including by * expanding basic and clinical research into FGIMDs by implementing the research recommendations of the National Commission on Digestive Diseases, * providing support for the establishment of centers of excellence on FGIMDs, * supporting innovative approaches to educating health care providers and patients regarding strategies that improve patient-provider relationships and care, * directing the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) to provide the necessary funding for the continued expansion and advancement of the FGIMDs research portfolio, and * directing NIDDK and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to expand research into FGIMDs that impact children. The Department of Health and Human Services may engage in public awareness and education activities to increase understanding and recognition of FGIMDs.

    Aidan's Law This bill authorizes newborn screenings for adrenoleukodystrophy (also known as ALD), which is a hereditary condition that damages the insulating membrane of nerve cells in the brain. The bill authorizes hospitals, child care centers, clinics, and similar institutions to test newborns for ALD in accordance with state protocols; such protocols must be approved by the Discretionary Advisory Committee on Heritable Disorders in Newborns and Children. The bill also reauthorizes for FY2020-FY2023 the heritable disorders screening program for newborns and children that is administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration.

    Setting Treatment Options and Practices for Veteran Suicide and Substance Abuse Act or the STOP Veteran Suicide and Substance Abuse Act This bill requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to complete the development of clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), military sexual trauma, and traumatic brain injury that is occurring simultaneously with substance use disorder or chronic pain. The VA, the Department of Defense (DOD), and the Department of Health and Human Services must create a Trauma and Comorbid Substance Use Disorder or Chronic Pain Work Group to develop such clinical practice guidelines in consultation with other work groups, including the Substance Use Work Group. The bill also requires the VA and DOD (through the Assessment and Management of Patients at Risk for Suicide Work Group) to issue an update to the VA/DOD Clinical Practice Guideline for Assessment and Management of Patients at Risk for Suicide that considers gender- and age-specific factors.

    Warrior Wellness Act This bill directs the Department of Defense (DOD) to report to congressional committees on its shortage of mental health providers and include a strategy to better recruit and retain mental health providers. DOD must report on the practices for prescribing medication during a specified period that were inconsistent with the post-traumatic stress disorder medication guidelines developed by DOD and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The Departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force must each establish a monitoring program to (1) periodically review the medication prescribing practices of providers and report the results to DOD and the VHA, and (2) establish procedures to address prescribing practices that are inconsistent with post-traumatic stress disorder medication guidelines developed by the departments.
