Bill Summary

This legislation, known as the "Coastal Georgia Flooding Prevention Act", is an amendment to the Water Resources Development Act of 1992. It aims to allocate $5,000,000 for environmental infrastructure projects in coastal Georgia, specifically in Glynn, Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, McIntosh, and Camden counties. This includes projects related to water and wastewater infrastructure, as well as stormwater management. The purpose of the act is to prevent flooding in the designated areas and improve their environmental infrastructure.

Possible Impacts

1. This legislation could limit the amount of funding available for environmental infrastructure in coastal Georgia to $5,000,000. This could potentially impact the quality and scope of infrastructure projects in the area, and could limit the ability of local governments to address flooding issues.

2. The legislation could also restrict the use of the allocated funds solely to environmental infrastructure projects, such as water and wastewater infrastructure and stormwater management. This could limit the ability of local governments to address other pressing issues in the area, potentially affecting the overall well-being of residents.

3. The addition of this legislation could also result in increased government oversight and regulations for environmental infrastructure projects in coastal Georgia. This could potentially slow down the progress of these projects and create additional bureaucratic hurdles for local governments and contractors.
