Bill Summary
The Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument Boundary Adjustment Act is a proposed bill in the United States Congress that aims to modify the boundary of the Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument in the state of Arizona. This would involve adding approximately 97.71 acres of Forest Service land to the Monument, as well as transferring administrative jurisdiction over this land from the Forest Service to the National Park Service. The bill also includes a map and definitions of relevant terms, and specifies that the Secretary of the Interior will be responsible for administering the newly added land in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Overall, this legislation seeks to make changes to the boundaries and management of the Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument.
Possible Impacts
1. The transfer of administrative jurisdiction from the Forest Service to the National Park Service could affect people who use the affected land for recreation or other activities, as they may need to follow different rules and regulations under the new management.
2. The inclusion of the Federal land in the Monument could potentially limit or restrict access to the land for various activities, such as hunting or resource extraction, which could affect people who rely on these activities for their livelihood.
3. The boundary modification could also affect the local community and economy, as the National Park Service may bring in new regulations or restrictions that could impact businesses or tourism in the area.
