                    the Committee on Foreign Affairs

                                 A BILL


 
To require a report that describes the current restrictions imposed by 
    the Taliban on women and girls in Afghanistan since August 2021.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Rejecting the Erasure of Afghan 
Women and Girls Act''.

SEC. 2. REPORT.

    Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this 
Act, the Secretary of State shall submit to the Committee on Foreign 
Affairs of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Foreign 
Relations of the Senate a report that--
            (1) describes the current restrictions imposed by the 
        Taliban on women and girls in Afghanistan since August 2021; 
        and
            (2) includes a determination as to whether the restrictions 
        described in paragraph (1) are--
                    (A) crimes against humanity;
                    (B) torture, as defined in the Convention against 
                Torture and Other Cruel, Inhumane, or De-grading 
                Treatment; or
                    (C) gross violations of human rights, as defined in 
                the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961.
