Bill Summary

This legislation aims to amend the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974 by requiring the Congressional Budget Office to include in their cost estimates for any bill or joint resolution the individual cost to each United States citizen for carrying out the proposed measure. This amendment also requires the CBO to estimate the pro rata amount for each citizen of the total change in federal spending and debt during the period covered by the estimate if the bill is carried out. This information will provide a more comprehensive understanding of the potential impact of proposed legislation on individual citizens.

Possible Impacts

1. This legislation could affect people by requiring the Congressional Budget Office to include the cost to each U.S. citizen for carrying out a bill or joint resolution. This could potentially impact people's personal finances and budgeting.

2. By amending the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974, this legislation may also increase transparency and accountability in government spending. This could impact people by providing them with more information about how their tax dollars are being allocated.

3. The requirement for the CBO to include estimates of the pro rata amount for each U.S. citizen in any spending changes could also affect people by highlighting the potential impact of a bill on individual taxpayers. This could influence public opinion and potentially sway support for or against certain legislation.
