Bill Summary
This bill is proposing an amendment to the Grand Ronde Reservation Act, which addresses the hunting, fishing, trapping, and animal gathering rights of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community. It also allows for the Grand Ronde Hunting and Fishing Agreement to remain in effect, with the possibility of being amended in the future by mutual consent of the tribes and the state of Oregon. This legislation also includes a provision for judicial review in the case of any legal actions brought against the Consent Decree, and states that nothing in this section changes any existing treaties or rights of Indian Tribes.
Possible Impacts
1. The legislation could impact the rights of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community, as it specifically addresses their hunting, fishing, trapping, and animal gathering rights.
2. The legislation could also affect the state of Oregon, as it requires the state to enter into agreements with the Confederated Tribes to define and regulate these rights.
3. The legislation could potentially lead to legal battles and court cases, as it includes provisions for judicial review and potential amendments to the agreements between the Confederated Tribes and the state of Oregon.
