Bill Summary

This legislation, called the "Basketball Tariff Relief Act", proposes to permanently remove tariffs (import taxes) on basketballs imported into the United States. It will amend the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, which is a comprehensive list of tariffs and taxes on various goods. The amendment will add a new subheading for basketballs with a duty-free status, and make necessary changes to existing subheadings and chapters related to this change. This legislation will take effect 15 days after it is enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives.

Possible Impacts

1. Basketball manufacturers - This legislation would likely have a positive impact on people who manufacture basketballs, as it would eliminate the 30% duty on imported basketballs and make the process of importing them easier and more affordable.

2. Basketball players and fans - With the elimination of the duty on imported basketballs, players and fans may see a decrease in the cost of basketballs, making it more accessible and affordable for them to purchase.

3. Government revenue - The government may see a decrease in revenue from the elimination of the duty on imported basketballs, as they will no longer be collecting the 30% duty on these items. This could potentially affect the government's ability to fund certain programs or initiatives.
