Bill Summary

This bill, passed by both the Senate and House of Representatives, extends the authorization for the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to treat certain educational programs that have been converted to distance learning due to emergencies or health-related situations in the same way as programs pursued at traditional educational institutions. This extension allows veterans to continue receiving educational assistance benefits until December 21, 2021.

Possible Impacts

1. This legislation could potentially provide more financial support for veterans pursuing distance learning programs, allowing them to continue their education despite emergencies or health-related situations.
2. It could also make it easier for veterans to access the same benefits as those attending traditional educational institutions, potentially increasing opportunities for higher education.
3. The extended deadline for utilizing these educational assistance benefits could alleviate financial stress and pressure for veterans who may have been affected by emergencies or health-related situations, giving them more time to focus on their studies.
