Bill Summary

This is a proposed bill that aims to extend the authorization for the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area. This means that it would allow the area to continue receiving funding and support from the United States government for an additional 15 years, until 2036. The bill would amend a previous law, Public Law 104-333, which currently sets the authorization to expire in 2021. This extension would ensure the preservation and promotion of the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area for a longer period of time.

Possible Impacts

1. Limiting access to certain areas: The extension of the authorization for Augusta Canal National Heritage Area may limit access to certain parts of the area for maintenance or preservation purposes. This could affect people who regularly visit the area for recreational activities or historical education.

2. Economic impact: The legislation may have an impact on the local economy, as it could potentially lead to increased tourism and revenue for businesses in the area. This could benefit people who live in the area and rely on tourism for their livelihoods.

3. Preservation of historical sites: The legislation aims to extend the authorization for the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area, which means that more funding and resources will be allocated to the preservation and maintenance of historical sites in the area. This could benefit people who have a personal or cultural connection to these sites, as well as future generations who will be able to learn about the area's history.
