Bill Summary

This legislation, known as "A BILL", directs the Secretary of Transportation to issue regulations that will modify the gross combination weight rating for a specific type of commercial motor vehicle, known as Group B. The purpose of this modification is to increase the weight limit for these vehicles to 30,001 pounds. The bill requires the Secretary to issue these regulations within 30 days of the enactment of the Act. This legislation aims to update and adjust regulations related to commercial motor vehicles to better align with current industry standards and needs.

Possible Impacts

1. This legislation could affect truck drivers who operate vehicles in Group B, as they will now be allowed to have a higher gross combination weight rating. This may impact their job duties and responsibilities, as well as the types of routes they can drive.

2. The Secretary of Transportation will now have the power to issue regulations related to commercial motor vehicle groups. This could potentially affect the entire commercial transportation industry and how it is regulated.

3. The enactment of this bill could also lead to changes in the Code of Federal Regulations, specifically in section 383.91(a)(2). This could impact individuals and companies who are subject to these regulations and may require them to make adjustments to their operations in order to comply with the new rules.
