Bill Summary
This legislation, known as the Interstate 11 Completion Act, aims to provide support for the completion of an environmental impact statement for a specific segment of the Interstate 11 highway project. This support includes both technical and financial assistance from the Secretary of Transportation. The segment in question is one that has been included in the transportation improvement programs and plans of both the applicable metropolitan planning organization and the state. The legislation specifies a timeline for the inclusion of this segment in these plans and for the provision of assistance by the Secretary of Transportation. It also states that the funds provided should not replace or reduce any existing funding for the project.
Possible Impacts
1. This legislation could affect individuals living in communities along the proposed Interstate 11 route, as it provides financial assistance for the completion of an environmental impact statement for certain segments of the route. This could impact their daily lives and property values.
2. The legislation could also affect individuals working for the Department of Transportation, as it directs the Secretary of Transportation to provide technical and financial assistance for the environmental impact statement. This could impact their workload and resources.
3. The legislation could also affect taxpayers, as it allocates funds for the completion of the environmental impact statement and specifies that these funds should supplement, not supplant, existing funds. This could impact the amount of taxes individuals are required to pay.
