Bill Summary

The "Lifting Up Our First Responders Act of 2019" is a bill that aims to amend the United States Code to allow the Secretary of Defense to transfer certain property of the Department of Defense to state and federal agencies for the purpose of disaster-related emergency preparedness. This includes the sale or donation of excess personal property to be used for law enforcement activities, such as counterterrorism and disaster response. The bill also specifies that high-water vehicles can be used for the purpose of disaster-related emergency preparedness.

Possible Impacts

1. The "Lifting Up Our First Responders Act of 2019" could potentially provide additional resources for disaster-related emergency preparedness, such as high-water vehicles, for state and federal agencies. This could help to improve response and recovery efforts during natural disasters and other emergencies.
2. This legislation could also potentially affect individuals working in law enforcement, as it authorizes the transfer of excess personal property from the Department of Defense for use in counterterrorism and disaster-related emergency preparedness activities. This could provide law enforcement officers with access to necessary equipment and resources to effectively respond to emergency situations.
3. The amendment to Section 2576a of title 10, United States Code could also have an impact on the budget and spending for disaster-related emergency preparedness. By allowing for the sale or donation of excess personal property, it could potentially save money for state and federal agencies and reduce the strain on emergency preparedness budgets.
