Bill Summary
This bill, titled the "Forestry Renewal Act," proposes to amend two existing laws: the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978 and the Act of October 14, 1980. It aims to renew the National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council and to remove limitations on the transfer of funds within the reforestation trust fund. The bill also states that the council must meet at least twice a year and will not terminate unless specified by an Act of Congress. The amendment to the Act of October 14, 1980 removes a limitation on the transfer of funds, allowing for more flexibility in the use of reforestation trust funds.
Possible Impacts
1. The renewal of the National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council could affect people by providing them with additional resources and support for urban and community forestry initiatives. This could potentially benefit individuals living in urban areas by improving the quality of their environment and providing more opportunities for outdoor recreation.
2. The removal of the limitation on the transfer of amounts from the reforestation trust fund could affect people by potentially providing more funding for reforestation efforts. This could benefit communities by helping to restore and maintain healthy forests, which provide numerous environmental and economic benefits.
3. The requirement for the Council to meet at least twice annually could affect people by potentially increasing transparency and accountability in decision-making processes related to forestry. This could benefit individuals and communities by ensuring that their voices and concerns are heard and considered in forestry management decisions.
