Bill Summary

The Employment Services and Jobs Parity Act of 2019 is a bill that aims to amend the Wagner-Peyser Act, a federal law that helps fund employment services and job training programs. The amendment would include the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa in the Wagner-Peyser Act, making them eligible for funding and services. This bill also ensures that these territories receive a proportionate amount of funding, similar to what Guam received in 1983.

Possible Impacts

1. If the bill is passed, residents of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa will have access to employment services and programs that were previously only available to residents of Guam. This could potentially increase job opportunities and economic stability for these individuals.
2. The inclusion of these territories in the Wagner-Peyser Act may result in increased funding for employment services and programs, which could benefit individuals seeking job training and placement.
3. The bill may also lead to closer integration and cooperation between the territories of Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa in terms of employment services and job opportunities, potentially creating a more unified and interconnected community.
