Bill Summary

This bill seeks to amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to include full-time employment with a veterans or military service organization as a public service job eligible for loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. This means that individuals who work full-time for these types of organizations will be able to have their student loans forgiven after a certain period of time in service. The bill also has a provision that these organizations must not engage in partisan political campaign activity. It is referred to as the "Veteran Service Equity Act" and makes changes to the Higher Education Act of 1965.

Possible Impacts

1. Individuals who have served in the military may be able to have their student loans forgiven if they work full-time for a veterans or military service organization, making it easier for them to manage their student loan debt and potentially reducing financial stress.
2. Veterans or military service organizations may see an increase in the number of applicants for full-time jobs, as the possibility of loan forgiveness may make these positions more attractive to individuals seeking a way to reduce their student loan debt.
3. The amendment may lead to an increase in the number of full-time jobs available with veterans or military service organizations, providing more employment opportunities for individuals interested in working for these types of organizations.
