Bill Summary
This bill seeks to extend the 400 Years of African-American History Commission, which was established by the 400 Years of African-American History Commission Act in 2018. The commission's purpose is to recognize and highlight the contributions of African-Americans to the United States over the past 400 years. This bill extends the commission's duration by two years, from 2020 to 2022, and also extends the deadline for its final report. This extension allows the commission more time to complete its important work and fulfill its mission.
Possible Impacts
1. This legislation could affect people by recognizing the importance of African-American history and extending the commemoration of the 400 years of African-American history. This could bring more awareness to the contributions and struggles of African-Americans, and potentially promote greater understanding and unity among different racial groups.
2. The extension of the commission and the commemoration could also provide opportunities for education and learning about African-American history, which could benefit people of all backgrounds and ages. This could lead to a more informed and culturally sensitive society.
3. The legislation could also have financial implications, as it includes provisions for funding and support for programs and initiatives related to African-American history. This could potentially create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth in communities that focus on promoting African-American history and culture.
