Bill Summary

The Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards Program Extension Act is a law that extends the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards Program, which is run by the Department of Homeland Security, by 15 months. This program aims to protect chemical facilities from potential terrorist attacks. The Act also amends a section of the Protecting and Securing Chemical Facilities from Terrorist Attacks Act of 2014 to extend the program by an additional 3 months. The Act is signed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Vice President of the United States.

Possible Impacts

1. The extension of the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards Program could potentially lead to increased security measures and regulations for chemical facilities, affecting the employees who work at these facilities and their daily routines.
2. The Act may also impact the budget and resources of the Department of Homeland Security, which could have a ripple effect on taxpayers and government spending.
3. The longer duration of the program could potentially provide more time for the government to gather data and analyze the effectiveness of the current standards, potentially leading to changes that could affect the chemical industry and their operations.
