Bill Summary

This bill seeks to amend Title XIX of the Social Security Act, which relates to Medicaid, in order to provide a 100% federal medical assistance percentage for urban Indian organizations. This means that these organizations, which provide health services to Native American populations in urban areas, will receive full federal funding for their services. This amendment also includes urban Indian organizations that have a grant or contract with the Indian Health Service, under Title V of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act.

Possible Impacts

1. This legislation could positively affect urban Native American individuals who may not have had access to affordable healthcare before. By providing a full federal medical assistance percentage for urban Indian organizations, these individuals will have better access to medical services.
2. This legislation may also positively impact Indian Health Services (IHS) by providing them with additional funding through grants or contracts. This could result in improved healthcare services for Native American communities.
3. On the other hand, this legislation could potentially have a negative impact on taxpayers as they will be responsible for funding the full federal medical assistance percentage for urban Indian organizations. This could lead to increased taxes for some individuals.
