Bill Summary

This legislation, called the "Arizona District Court Amendment Act," amends the United States Code to add two new locations, Flagstaff and Yuma, to the list of places where court shall be held in the judicial district for the state of Arizona. This means that court cases for that district can now be held in these two additional cities, in addition to the previously designated cities of Globe, Phoenix, Prescott, and Tucson. The Act was passed by the Senate and House of Representatives and signed into law by the Speaker of the House and the Vice President/President of the Senate.

Possible Impacts

1. The people living in Flagstaff and Yuma, Arizona, may have easier access to the court system as they no longer have to travel to other locations for court proceedings.
2. Lawyers and judges who work in Flagstaff and Yuma may see an increase in their workload due to the added court locations.
3. Residents of Flagstaff and Yuma may feel a sense of inclusion and representation in the judicial system as their cities are now officially recognized as locations for court proceedings.
